The upside of “Back-to-school”? It’s senior portraits time!

For a limited time: Senior Buddy Sessions!

OK, I know, I know. I’ve been there and I know there is no real way to broach, say, shout, positively bellow, or otherwise sugar coat that annual, heart-sinking, little three-word phrase “back to school”.

So many businesses like to put these words out there like it’s the event you’ve been waiting for all summer long. “Hurry in! It’s back to school time and we’ve got…” well, some boring reminders that it is time to hunker over the books for another nine months… “And it’s all 20% off!!”

Even though part of me still cringes at this phrase, unfortunately, Abanathy Photography, LLC also finds itself on the back-to-school band wagon even if we do not straight up say it. For that we are offering our high school senior “buddy sessions” for a limited time this fall. Essentially, it is a buy-one-get-one-half-off deal, but enough about that! For further information, take a peek at the photo accompanying this blog.

What I do want to talk about is the fun parts of back-to-school time, and, in specific, the fun times for high school seniors!

You only have one more year to go and then its off to (believe me) much better things! But, for now, you are just beginning what could very well be remembered as your favorite year in high school (it was for me anyway), and your high school senior portrait session is sure to be one of the best parts of this year! You’ve earned it, so why not show it off?! At Abanathy Photography, LLC, we understand this all to well and are eager to be a part of this most exciting time with you!

Of course, I have to admit, I am a bit jealous of the choices seniors have today when it comes to their senior portraits. Back in my day (now I’m old) we went to the studio, posed for some pictures, and later reviewed the proofs and ordered a package. Today, it is a similar process, even though the proofing and ordering portions can often be done at home. However, what has changed is the additional objects one can order featuring their senior portraits. From tote bags to iPhone covers, there is no real limit as to what one can have their wonderful portraits displayed upon. For an idea of what we offer in the realm of photo packages and personalized swag, take a look at our product catalogue here!

So for the seniors who cringe when they, once again, hear that knife-twisting phrase “back-to-school”, just remember, it is only for one more year and then you will get to experience the bliss that I do every fall: It harkens back to something one of my older cousins said years ago when I was still in middle school. He said it is great to go into Walmart, see those cliche back-to-school banners, and know they no longer apply to you!

Of course you might say: “But Patrick, I’m going to be starting college in the fall, so it does still apply to me!” Well, let me tell you. College is such a different, wonderful, and liberating experience that it will take the claws right out of that phrase and might even make you miss it a little later in life. So, I would not even begin to place college and high school under the same back-to-school umbrella. But it does bring me to my next point:

Abanathy Photography, LLC is also looking to branch into the college scene more in coming weeks. First of all, we are offering $20 professional portrait sessions for MSU students (with current college ID), which will provide them with wonderful headshots they can use in social networking and business cards.

But, like I said before, we know fun is also a great part of college and we know finding something to do on a Friday night can be a little challenging in a small town. That is why we are looking to offer other fun photo activities geared toward MSU students. So, MSU students be on the lookout for upcoming announcements!

To wrap this week’s blog, I would like to congratulate the winner of our photo session, which was auctioned off to help raise money for friends who are in the process of international adoption. For privacy sake, I will not give out her name, however, I will say “congrats” to her and I wish nothing but the best wishes to our friends in their upcoming adoption!
