A floor is worth a thousand pictures!

Once again, my arms and legs are sore, my back is aching, and my dogs are barking. Okay, some of that is from bouncing around on the lawn mower for nearly three hours yesterday de-jungling our yard. The rest is from installing our new floor in the Abanathy LLC photo studio!

My wife, and business partner, Liz, has been counting down the days, marking off the calendar, and otherwise reminding me nearly weekly, that the spring brings with it a new floor for the studio. Well, it’s spring, and we have a new floor.

During the past couple of years, we had considered our options for sprucing up the decades old, oil stained, scuffed up, and cracked concrete slab. We considered staining it, sealing it, carpet, and just leaving it bare. While none of these really appealed to us for one reason or another, we eventually found a temporary fix until the funding became available.

For those of you who have visited our studio, you might remember the more or less decoupage of varying rugs we had adorning the floor. We had fluffy ones, flat ones, used ones, and stained ones. Throw in a small corner of free, used laminate and you get the picture.

While this took some attention away from the unsightly slab beneath it, it still did little to complement the studio and it still left many areas bare. In fact, the very presence of this unsightly slab and mismatch of floor accents had begun to eat at Liz. She would remind me often the floor needed to be fixed. She would, sometimes, go out at 2 a.m. and just…just stare at it. Then came the terrible night screams…so loud…so often.

Alright, those last two never happened. But she did keep reminding me and I did agree that a new floor option was needed. Now, as the weather has finally begun allowing for some house and studio projects, it is accomplished. As of Sunday, we now have a nice sheet vinyl giving it a much more desirable wood floor appearance. It completes the studio, complements the studio, brings it all together, and offers a variety of possibilities for everything photography. As I am a photographer and it is in our studio, it think it best to the let the pictures do the talking. Take a look! Let us know what you think! Schedule an appointment today and we’ll let you see it up close!
