A beautiful day for an arboretum wedding!

The sun shone bright, the wind (finally) calm, the air just cool enough for one more day of easy outdoor comfort and a beautiful couple began their new life together in one of Murray’s most beautiful places…and I am so lucky and thankful to have been part of this!

Friday was Luke and Angela’s big day at the Arboretum at Murray State! I was glad to see the normal wedding jitters quickly replacing those which come with any large, long-planned outdoor event: Uncertainty of weather!

Speaking from personal experience nearly 9 years ago, planning an outdoor wedding is risky. Liz and I picked the end of July for two reasons: One it was the Saturday closest to the anniversary of the day we met and, two, the Kentucky rain typically remains at bay during that month. But, we almost didn’t make it. If we had planned a day earlier, we would all have had umbrellas and ponchos. Fortunately for us, playing the July odds paid off, however, planning in the Kentucky spring (especially this year’s fairly wet and chilly spring), that was a gamble. But it paid off for them as well!

Last Friday, the weather could not have been better. The wind, rain and chill which seemingly has defined this spring until, almost literally, May 1 gave way! Everything was perfect with life abounding. The birds were singing, the bees buzzing, the geese honking and the squirrels squirreling.

For Luke and Angela, this beautiful day will be treasured for a lifetime. For Abanathy Photography, it marks a first of what I hope to be many, many more! You see, several other types of portrait sessions were already checked off our list of MSU Arboretum possibilities. However, in our short two and a half years in business, an arboretum wedding continued to elude us…until now!

When this lovely couple asked us to be the photographer at their arboretum wedding, I won’t lie: I was ecstatic! And it did not disappoint. It was everything I expected and more. In fact, the only issue I have with the arboretum is the fact there are too many portrait possibilities and time flies when one is having fun. I am not really sure if this is truly a valid complaint, but you get the idea 🙂

Now, this is one of those blogs where I will let a few teaser pics do some of the talking as well, however, I will add we still have a few wedding spaces available this summer so we encourage you (or someone who needs beautiful portraits of their wedding day) to check out our wedding packages! Also, “Like” and “Share” our Facebook page and/or “Follow” us on Twitter!

Now, without further ado, a couple more teaser pics! Keep up with us on Facebook to see more from this beautiful wedding soon!
